Vivian Danforth Obituary

Vivian Louise Danforth
June 10, 1948- January 3, 2021

Vivian L Danforth, 72, passed away peacefully at home, Sunday, January 03, 2021, in Conway, SC.

Vivian was born June 10, 1948, the fourth child of Edna Louise Strickland and Leo Frank Lowe, Sr. Growing up, she loved to climb trees and play outside. Her love of nature continued into adulthood, as could be seen in her perfectly manicured yard with its abundance of flowers.

She loved to serve her Lord.  She would plan, organize and conduct a backyard Bible school and recruit neighborhood children to attend, often drawing crowds of 15-20. She would invite them, keep them engaged, and even babysit some until parents could pick them up. Later, her service continued as a Sunday School teacher, church secretary, and Women’s Missionary Union leader. Caring for those in need, she volunteered at shelters, prepared meals for the hungry, and sewed dresses for children in Haiti.

Being blessed with a beautiful voice, Vivian loved to sing. She always sang while washing dishes, because she said she never wanted the family to think it was a bother to clean up after them. At church, she performed solos, duets, and sang in the choir, thankful for the opportunity to raise a joyful noise unto the Lord.

Her unique laugh, great sense of humor and zest for life, made every day an adventure.  She lived life to the fullest, traveling and exploring new places. She noted that at the end of the day, she wanted to be able to say that she had worked a little, played a little, and relaxed a little, considering this the recipe for a happy life.

An emergency room nurse, she was awarded Nurse of the Year in 2005. Loved by patients and colleagues, she always went the extra mile. One recently stated that she was forced to rush to the hospital without shoes during an emergency. Vivian immediately got some alcohol wipes and wiped down her feet so that she would not catch anything from the germs on the floor. She was humble, loving, and kind.

Vivian was preceded in death by her precious, beloved Husband, Harland (Hal) Danforth, her mother, Louise Strickland Sorrow;  her father, Leo Frank Lowe, Sr; and a brother, Leo Frank Lowe, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Mike Richardson; daughter, Cathy Barrow (Bill); grandchildren; Michael Richardson, Ryan Richardson, Will Barrow, Nick Barrow, Brock Barrow, and Mason Richardson; a sister, Shirley Cranford; brothers Billy Lowe, Sr (Barbara), Ricky Lowe (Tina); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
