Mr. Thomas (Tommy) D. Huff, age 78, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at his home in Longs with his family at his side.
Tommy was born on June 22,1947 in Frederick, MD. He was raised by his grandparents, Dorsey Lee and Hannah Matilda Huff of Hillsville, VA.
Tommy graduated from Wampee High School then went into the Army and on to Vietnam. There he served in the Military Police, Color Guard and as a Combat Police Detective. After which he served in Germany as Military Police, which was the last of his deployments.
Tommy’s life after his military service in Viet Nam was riddled with flash backs and nightmares from the awful traumatic experiences he lived daily. He never shirked his duties to fight for the freedom of his country, The United States of America.
Upon returning home he worked for Brown and Root in Southport, NC. Shortly after he was hired with UPS in Wilmington. He was soon promoted to supervisor of the center in Jacksonville, NC. While there he worked his way up to center manager. During this time, Tommy sacrificed one Christmas Eve to locate a missing package for a teary-eyed little girl who was broken hearted because her Christmas could have been ruined. During his life he raised two daughters and a grandson with his wife, Barbara.
Aside from his grandparents, Dorsey & Hannah, Tommy was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Huff Reist, sister, Pauline Huff Hall, and a cousin, Dolores Ann Smith.
Left to cherish Tommy's memory are, his wife, Barbara, daughter, Pamela Huff Baxley and her husband, Devin; granddaughter, Riley Elizabeth Baxley; Grandson, Thomas Logan Reist and his wife,Morgan. great-granddaughter, Autumn Rae Reist, and cousin, Diane Doty.
Mr. Huff is entrusted to Kelvin F. Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home staff of Myrtle Beach, SC. (843) 294-0011
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Lewis Crematory Chapel.
