Thomas Foster Obituary

October 16, 1944-September 27, 2025

Thomas “Tom” Wilford Foster of Murrells Inlet, SC age 80, passed away September 27, 2025, at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 16, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY. The son of William J. Foster Sr. and Alice (Banks) Foster of Brooklyn, NY.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Botterrio (Eugene) of Orlando, Florida, brother William J. Foster Jr. of Staten Island, NY, and his wife of 59 years, Joann Foster of Murrells Inlet, SC. Survivors include: sister Muriel Swenson of Orlando, Florida; two daughters, Tammy Ann Heraghty (James) of Holtsville, NY, and Debbie Ann Bonham of Murrells Inlet, SC; and two grandsons, Andrew Heraghty and Cameron Bonham; and also many nieces and nephews.

“Tom” was a gentle giant, a tall man, over 6 feet tall, who was very soft spoken. He attended Abraham Lincoln High School. As a young man, he started a job as a construction worker, then worked as a delivery driver for Amity Dairies, NY.  During his 25 years of service with Amity, he advanced to the position of “Director of Customer Sales”. In 1989, he moved his family to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he owned and operated several successful businesses, “Long Life Lighting”, “The Shuttle”, and “East Coast Taxi” with his beloved wife Joann.

The joys of his life were his “Girls”, his grandson’s, and his love for life and the happiness of others. He was a kind soul, loved football, golfing, boating, and fishing. As a big fan of Elvis Presley, he enjoyed music, movies, comedies, and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed BBQs, cooking, and good food. He celebrated and enjoyed life, always wanting to be with his family and friends. Tom was a dedicated and loving spouse, father, and friend. He could always shine a bright light in a dark time to offer wisdom, guidance, or humor to lighten the day. He always tried his best to offer unwavering support to his family and close friends.

From the bottom of our family’s heart, we thank Agape Hospice in Myrtle Beach, SC, for their love and compassionate care. The surviving family will be having a “Celebration of Life” for Thomas W. Foster on Thursday, October 9th, 2025, 4 PM–7 PM at 4202 SweetWater Blvd, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

Foster is entrusted to Kelvin F. Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home staff of Myrtle Beach, SC. (843) 294-0011.
