Sue Patterson

Sue Patterson of Marmet, WV went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2025 after a long illness. She was born November 15, 1949 in Marmet, WV, She graduated from Charleston High School, where she loved playing saxophone in the marching band.  She went back to school as a single mom and worked her way through school at University of Charleston, She earned her degree in education and was an elementary school teacher for  Kanawha County Schools until her retirement. She made friends easily and always made people laugh. Her two children and her one granddaughter were the true loves of her life. She was a lifelong member of Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church in Marmet, WV where she sang in the choir and gave a children's sermon on Sunday mornings. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Spencer and Mae Bowen, and her brothers David Bowen and Larry Bowen as well as her sister-in-law, Maxine Bowen. 

She is survived by her children Angela Patterson and Angela's significant other Kenneth Johnson and her son Matthew Patterson and his wife Cate as well her one granddaughter and apple of her eye, Hannah Patterson. 

A celebration of life will be planned in West Virginia at a later time.
