With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Sharyn Linn Bauer, age 72, of Myrtle Beach, SC, who left this world on January 8, 2025. She was a cherished sister, sister-in-law, niece, aunt, and great-aunt whose love and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She was born in Van Wert, Ohio, on November 10, 1952, to Herbert and Betty (Germann) Bauer.
A devout Christian, Sharyn lived a life of faith, patience, and compassion. She was known for her giving nature, always putting the needs of others before her own, and offering comfort and care with a gentle spirit. Her kind heart and unwavering love for her family and friends will be remembered fondly by all.
In addition to her remarkable qualities as a sister and aunt, Sharyn was a woman of many talents. She had a passion for gardening, beautifying her yard, baking, and teaching her niece how to bake. She was a gifted seamstress who created beautiful, handmade items with love. Sharyn also greatly appreciated the simple joys of life—capturing the beauty of nature through photography or enjoying the calming sound of the waves at the beach. Her love for nature was evident in all she did, and she found peace in its beauty. Sharyn's other love was watching movies. In addition, throughout her life, she touched and supported all of her nieces and nephews.
Sharyn grew up and went to school in Convoy, OH. She attended a one-room schoolhouse, 1st - 8th at St. Thomas Lutheran School. She graduated from Crestview High School, earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Concordia Lutheran University in River Forest, Illinois, and earned her Master of Education in School Counseling and School Psychology. After graduation from Concordia Lutheran University, Sharyn first taught in Grand Haven, MI then headed out West and taught in Ponca City, Oklahoma, at First Lutheran. She then moved to California and lived in La Habra, near Los Angeles, for about thirty years. She taught school and furthered her education, helping and advocating for children, eventually becoming a guidance counselor and then a school psychologist in Upland Unified School District in Upland, CA. Sharyn retired to Myrtle Beach fifteen years ago to be near family.
She is survived by her four brothers: David Bauer, Richard (Lorraine Salazar), Brent (Sarah Davis), and Philip (Diane Vogel), as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Those who preceded her in death include her parents, Herbert and Betty Bauer, and her sister-in-law, Jill (Fortney) Bauer.
Sharyn loved to keep busy, and her passion was teaching people of all ages to learn to read. In addition, she loved to help with children. She volunteered with Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, Girl Scouts, the Boys and Girls Club, and the Horry County Literacy Council.
Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace with her Heavenly Father. Sharyn leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will continue to inspire and guide us.
A viewing will be held at Lewis Crematory Chapel on Monday, January 13, 2025, 3 pm - 5 pm
A memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery (details to be determined).
Donations may be made to Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in her memory.
Rest in peace, dear Sharyn. Your love and light will live on forever in our hearts.
