Mr. Ronald Douglas Cameron, 81, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Born on September 15th, 1943 in Troy, N.Y., Ron served honorably in the U.S. Navy and continued his service to the veterans in his community as Commander of the American Legion Post in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He spearheaded fundraisers for the Post and the local veterans. He dedicated many years to the United States Postal Service and served his fellow clerks as Legislative Director of the Postal Clerk Union. He also impacted his community by coaching basketball (The Gorillas) at St. Peters in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., sharing his love for sports and shaping young athletes. Ron was a proud Catholic Central High School alumnus in Troy, N.Y.
Ron is survived by his wife of almost 57 years Margaret (Peggy) Cameron, two sons, Tory Cameron and Dan Cameron and wife Maria; grandchildren Kevin and Kaitlyn Cameron; and his sister Doris Prendergast and husband Jim.
Ron's legacy of kindness, dedication, and community spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life with burial in Saratoga National Cemetery will be held in the spring.
