Richard Pernod Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Richard "Dick" Pernod announce his passing on November 8, 2024.  He was 93 years old.  People loved Richard for his playfulness, sense of humor, and joyful spirit.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Constance, "Conny" Pernod, who passed away on July 29, 2021.  He is survived by his children Suzanne England and Richard Pernod Jr, as well as his grandchildren, Nicole Liboy, Amanda Dervan, Patrick England, Matthew England, and his great-grandchildren, Violet and Evelyn Liboy, and Dylan and Samantha Dervan.

Richard was born on Long Island and raised in Westchester County, NY, in the towns of Mamaroneck and Larchmont.  He spent his last seven years in Waterford Plantation in Myrtle Beach, SC, living with his daughter, Suzanne, and her husband Fred England.  They took wonderful care of him and made sure his last years were filled with fun and laughter.

Richard  was a U.S. Navy veteran, where he served his country as a 2nd Class Petty Officer.  On returning, he married his hometown sweetheart Conny Mallin.  They were happily married for sixty-five years.  Richard worked in the engineering field for most of his career.  He liked to say he was blessed and grateful for his life.  He loved art (enjoyed painting), music (drum and bugle, the crooners of his youth, anything with a large ensemble of performers), playing chess, and Dean Martin Roasts.

His motto was "Be kind, live in the day, and always remember to have a good laugh at yourself and life."

Requiem

Robert Louis Stevenson

Under the wide and starry sky

Dig the grave and let me lie:

Glad did I live and gladly die,

And I laid me down with a will.

This be the verse you 'grave for me:

Here he lies where he long'd to be;

Home  is the sailor, home from the sea,

And the hunter home from the hill.

Mr. Pernod is entrusted to Kelvin F. Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home staff of Myrtle Beach, SC. (843) 294-0011
