Richard Alan Lamoreux “Rich” passed away on April 27, 2023, at the age of 80 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Despite recent health issues and struggles, Richard stayed upbeat and strong to the end. Rich was a very loving person and had many friends and was an avid animal lover. He was known for telling a good Polish joke, was the life of the party at family events, and was always upbeat.
Richard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sherri Lamoreux, his stepdaughter Danielle Cutler, daughters Judy El Masri, of Houston, Texas, and Deborah Lamoreux, of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and his granddaughter Leila El Masri, of San Diego California. Richard was pre-deceased by his parents Phillip and Veronica Lamoreux, his brother and sister Michael and Mary Lou, and his first wife, Phyllis Lamoreux.
Richard joined the U.S. Army after graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in Levittown, Pennsylvania, and fought in Vietnam, was awarded the Bronze Star, and was honorably discharged after 9 years of active duty. Following military service, he graduated from Rider College with an accounting degree and worked in that field until retirement. After retiring Rich drove a school bus and enjoyed every day of driving children to and from school. In 2016 Rich and his wife Sherri, and Dani moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to enjoy retirement.
Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and son and moved from New Jersey to Texas to be closer to his daughters and only grandchild. Richard always bragged about his daughters, granddaughter, nephews, and nieces. Rich was well known for his presence at nearly every soccer game, volleyball game, and swim meet to cheer his granddaughter Leila on from kindergarten throughout her college swimming career. Everyone knew Leila’s Pop Pop and loved his enthusiasm, avid support, and presence at school and in the Katy, Texas community. Richard will be dearly missed.
Mr. Lamoreux is entrusted to the care of Kelvin F. Lewis, Funeral Director, and Lewis Crematory & Funeral Services of Myrtle Beach, SC.
