Richard Gardner Goodheart

Richard Gardner Goodheart passed away on August 20, 2026 with his dear wife, Nancy, by his side. Rich was born in Niagara Falls, NY. He was raised in Sanborn, NY, by the late Phoebe and Grant Goodheart, along with his siblings, Christine, Tom and Brett.

Rich leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Nancy Goodheart, his three children, Adam (Kristen Szwast), Elizabeth and Molly, and three grandchildren, Wren, Wade and Winifred.

He lived an adventurous life, traveling to dozens of countries and six out of seven continents. He loved to cook, and he loved to eat. He was incredibly smart and talented. He played many stringed-instruments, but his favorite was the guitar. He loved classic rock and bluegrass. He loved a cold beer, sometimes a whiskey or gin and tonic, and to play his acoustic guitar. He had many hobbies throughout life, such as skiing, woodworking and gunnery. He collected watches and old money, particularly German currency from WWI. He loved to tell stories, and he could talk about anything to anyone—from chemistry and nanotechnology to geopolitics, from the arts to the simple pleasantries of everyday-life. He was hilarious and constantly made us laugh. He enjoyed reading history novels and watching Star Trek (his favorite being Enterprise). He loved animals, especially cats and the family dog, Charlotte. He maintained an exceptional work ethic; even after retiring, operating his own consulting firm, Eventus Scientifica LLC, that he was very proud of (and rightfully so).

He was a wonderful husband, friend and mentor, and an even better father. Dad was a friend to everyone, and everyone who was lucky enough to meet him greatly admired him. He is deeply loved. He will be sorely missed. The world is a darker place without his shining, beaming constitution.
