Richard D Avey, 69, most recently a resident of Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Thursday, December 22nd, at Roper Hospice Cottage in Charleston, S.C. after a prolonged illness. He is survived by sisters Bonnie Twymon of Pearland, Tx., Jill Oakley of Sunset Beach, N.C., and Larry Avey of Winston-Salem, N.C.

Richard (Rick) was born in 1953 in Frankfurt Germany where his father was serving as a Lt. in the U.S. Army. He grew up in central Pennsylvania and was a 1971 graduate of State College Area High School. In the mid-1970s, he moved to Denver, Colorado where he studied criminal science and psychology.
