Gail was born on February 13th, 1943, in Moultrie, GA. She graduated from Gray High School in 1961. and her family later moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, from Winston Salem, NC. She met Jerald during the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo (Category 5) in Myrtle Beach, SC in 1990. He was on “Storm Duty” with his insurance adjusting company and after 8 weeks, he returned to Colorado. She followed him to Colorado in early 1991 and they married in 1993. In 1996, Jerald was offered a transfer to South Florida. He waited 7 days before telling her. When he did, he asked her if she wanted to go to South Florida, and her response was “I’m packed!”. They remained in Florida for 25 years until 2021, when in July 2021, they retired and moved to South Carolina to be closer to her family. Gail loved the beach and always considered it home.
Gail was the life of the party! She was the family matriarch! Her immediate family all agree that she was the glue that held her family together. Whether you needed a good laugh, a tight hug, or a warm smile, she was always there for those she loved. She would never let you leave her house with an empty stomach (although there was the occasional small kitchen/flannel fire - she was wearing a flannel shirt and leaned over the lit burner on her gas stove and the shirt caught on fire. Hilarious, but no damage except to the shirt!). Incredibly, her husband, Jerald, was a Certified Scuba Instructor and loved scuba diving and underwater photography/videography, and even though she had never intentionally put her head underwater, Gail became a Certified Scuba Diver. It took two years, but she did it! We have the videos to prove it.
Gail would dance to just about any music you put on, especially if she knew it would make you laugh. She had a great love for travel and enjoyed spending time in the Florida Keys and searching for sharks’ teeth on the beach. She loved her family so deeply that it was felt by all who had the opportunity to spend time with her. She was the most unique and magnetic personality, a force of nature, if you will, and the world will never know another like her. Her soul is now in the hands of God, but she has left behind the most beautiful memories that will forever be cherished.
Family arrangements are made for Friday, November 8th at Lewis Crematory in Myrtle Beach, SC, from 3-5 pm.
Mrs. Fish is entrusted to Kelvin Lewis, the Funeral Director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home Staff of Myrtle Beach, SC.
