Michael Rouse

Michael James Rouse passed away on August 27, 2024, in Little River, SC, at age 66. Born on November 8, 1957, in Jersey City, NJ, he spent his life working hard each day and touching the hearts of those around him. Mike will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. 

Michael was promoted to Captain in the Elizabeth Fire Department in 1995 and retired from his 30-year career in June 2011. During this time, he was an entrepreneur. Mike owned and operated his successful Easy Care Pool business which he sold before his full retirement. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Cheryl, moved from Woodbridge, NJ to Little River, SC to enjoy the temperate weather. Michael was proactive, hard-working, and left a legacy of the same that impressed upon those he worked with and his children, Staci and Todd.

Mike left a mark on all those he met. He had connections across the country due to his outgoing, bold friend-making nature. Michael also deeply loved his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Cheryl Ann Rouse, his two children, Staci and Todd, his sister Beverly Pomponio, brother-in-law, Robert, and nephew, Michael. He is also survived by Cheryl’s remaining family in NJ to include his mother-in-law Phyllis, his sister-in-law Patricia, and his three nephews, two nieces, and their spouses. Michael is pre-deceased by his parents, Jack and Margaret Rouse. 

The Rouse Family will have an open service for Michael at Lewis Crematory and Funeral Services at 4947 US Highway 17 Bypass South, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 2-4 pm. 

Mr. Rouse is entrusted to Kelvin Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home staff of Myrtle Beach, SC.
