Michael S. Rasmussen, 76, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away on April 4th, 2025 due to cancer. Mike was born and attended school in Northern Virginia and served in the U.S. Army, 1st Air Calvary Division, as a Lieutenant. He was stationed in the Canal Zone of Panama and in various postings in the U.S.
Subsequent of his military service, Mike worked as a shoe executive and then ran his own businesses.
Mike is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Rasmussen, his two sons, Jeffrey and Wesley Rasmussen, as well as his brother, Roy Rasmussen. He leaves behind a granddaughter, Jayviana Rasmussen, a great-grandson, Elijah Collins Jr., as well as two sister-in-laws and a brother-in-law.
Mike was a wonderfully warm and engaging person. He enjoyed evenings with friends playing trivia and other games. Mike was an avid reader about the civil war. On weekends he could be found exploring old battlefields and campsites for historical objects and he enjoyed researching and trading Civil War relics. His remains will be interred at Stonewall Gardens Cemetery in Manassas, Virginia alongside his wife and sons.
