Michael Plummer Obituary

Michael Roy Plummer, 60, of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, passed away after an 11-month battle with glioblastoma.
Michael leaves behind his loving wife, Sondra Plummer, his two children, Daniel (Erin) Plummer and Stephanie (Corbett) McKinney, and his cherished granddaughter, Spencer McKinney, who was his pride and joy. He is also survived by his mother, Gloria Plummer, his sister Kim (Bill) Thorne, his brother Mark (Rachel) Plummer, and his father- and mother-in-law, Glenn and Glenna Boden. Michael’s memory will also be cherished by numerous sister & brother in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick Plummer.
Michael was a tech genius, spending his career working with various companies in the technology industry. In his final years, he was proud to be a part of the Oracle team, where he continued to share his expertise and passion for technology.
A proud alumnus of Liberty University, Michael was a champion for Christian education and strongly believed in its power to shape lives and communities. He also served his country in the Air National Guard, including a deployment to Jordan during Operation Enduring Freedom an experience he carried with pride and honor throughout his life.
Though his career and achievements were many, it was his family — especially his beloved granddaughter — that brought him the greatest joy.  His children will remember him as “Vacation Dad,” who spared no expense when traveling to various places. This became a running joke in later years, but it was always true. He also had a special love for his “granddogs,” Maverick McKinney and Robin Plummer, who brought him laughter and comfort over the years.
Michael will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humor, generous spirit, and deep love for those he held dear. His presence brought joy and comfort to all who knew him, and his memory will be carried in the hearts of many.
Michael was a follower of Jesus, and though we grieve, we do not grieve as the world does. We know that he is now in the presence of his Savior, and we take comfort in the knowledge that we will be reunited with him one day.
