Maryann Christine Rice

Mary Ann Christine Sulima Rice, aged 89, passed away on October 3, 2024, in Myrtle Beach, SC. Born on March 8, 1935, in Waterbury CT, Mary Ann lived a life marked by boldness, courage, and a spirit of transformation that profoundly impacted those around her.

Mary Ann's educational journey included her studies at Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, PA, where she met her future husband Jacob Joseph Ryżowicz, Jr.  They were married shortly after College in Berlin, Germany where Jacob served in the US Army.  These life experiences shaped her into a woman of deep conviction and resilience.

Throughout her life, Mary Ann was a beacon of inspiration, often forging ahead against all odds and encouraging others to pursue healing and personal growth.

Mary Ann spent much of her life in Naugatuck, CT, and moved to Myrtle Beach in 2004.

She leaves behind a loving family who cherished her presence: her sister Patricia Sulima Rose, her children Julianne, Jacob, John, Joanne, and James; her grandchildren Angela, Gregory, Alisa Ann, and Christopher; and her great-grandchildren Annaleigh and Vayda.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Sulima, and her beloved husband, Jacob Joseph Rice (Ryżowicz), Jr. 

A Celebration of Life memorial service will honor Mary Ann's legacy on Saturday, November 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Unity Myrtle Beach, 6173 Salem Road, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588. Mary Ann's life was one of impactful encounters and enduring love, a legacy that will continue to inspire and influence generations.
