Mary Strauss Obituary

Mary Susan Strauss passed away on May 15, 2026.  Born on August 24, 1944 in Rahway, New Jersey, Mary spent most of her life living in cities throughout New Jersey, including Clifton, Morristown, and Fredon.  She graduated from Arthur L. Johnson  High School and later obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Montclair State University. After retirement from a career in business, Mary fulfilled her dream of living near the ocean when she moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Since calling Myrtle Beach home for the past 14 years, Mary has enjoyed spending time and travelling with dear friends in the community.  She was an active member of Carolina Forest Community Church.  

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Manfred “Fred” Strauss, as well as her parents, Walter and Susan Schulenburg.  Mary is survived by her son, Ronald (Kim) Strauss in Georgia, grandson Scott (Robbi-Anne) Strauss and three great-grandchildren, Lyla, Millie and Walker in Colorado; son Jeffrey Strauss and granddaughter, Sienna Strauss in Florida. Mary is also survived by her sister Sandy Krachun and brother-in-law Wayne, niece Keri Lynn Baert and nephew Brian Krachun.  

The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and support staff who cared for and comforted Mary while she was a patient at Grand Strand Medical Center.  Thank you, as well, to Mary’s dear friends who offered kindness and support to Mary and her family.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
