Katie Lucille Stubbs has gained her wings and has been forever reunited with her soulmate, Robert Finley Stubbs (Bob, PaPa November 12, 1932- September 19, 1999) and 2 grandchildren, Robert DeLeon Garcia (Robbye June 8 19YY- August 3, 19YY) and Kristian J. Stubbs (September 14, 1988 - June 27, 2022) She'll forever be enjoying her senior citizen discount at that great Goodwill in the sky. Mema was a dancing diva, a fashion maven and a thrift extraordinaire. Mema loved Jesus, milk chocolate, and her sweet, loyal Bijon Frise, BJase (the rest after the letter J was silent). She loved flip flops in all forms, especially if they were bedazzled or covered in gems, and she had a pair in every color a Carolina girl could dream of. She loved a monochromatic outfit and knew how to make a statement with an iconic hat, a silk scarf, or a sassy clip-in ponytail. And if she didn't have a matching pair of earrings, she would darn sure make some herself. And a pair for you, too, girl. She was always up for a game of rummy or dominoes with whoever would dare to challenge her, paired with a glass of brandy, of course. Mema deeply cherished spending time with her grandchildren, often fishing or showing them how it was done at the roller skating rink. She could always get down to some beach music, and playing "Higher and Higher" By Jackie Wilson was a sure way to get her foot tappin'. One of her favorite late-night snacks was peanut butter rounds with milk, and if it was the CRUNCHY honey-roasted Peter Pan, then she had struck gold. She also hated tomatoes so much, she claimed she was allergic to them. Mema could not be contradicted. Her hand and her hip were practically magnetized to each other, and her eyebrow stayed raised high, just like the invisible crown that hovered above her. She carried the confidence of a queen, a divine feminine beauty whose light shined brighter than all of her dazzling accessories (or as she would call it, bling bling). She was a source of light, and the best perfume, in every room she walked in. Mema always found a way to bring that same light out of those around her. Mema was a true social butterfly, and gossip girl (LOL) Mema spent time uniting women and fostering connections through a group she curated called "Carolina Ladies" This group of women collaborated to contribute towards charities for the holiday season, as well as creating a safe space for women to laugh, cry, to empower each other, share experiences, and revitalize each other through girlhood. Mema was also deeply devoted to her fellow widows, extending her love and support to widows all over all throughout her life after her late husband, Robert F. Stubbs. Katie & Bob's love for each other was deep, true, and timeless. Together, they raised Stephanie Poxtan, Katie's first and only daughter, as well as her 5 grandchildren, Robert DeLeon Stubbs, Raecyne Alicia Medorio (Married to Christian Medorio), Jeramie Randall Stubbs, Kristian Jared Stubbs, and Antonio Michael Stubbs. She was also blessed with the first great-grandchild being Jocyne S. Medorio-Garcia and her son Ezra Stone Sears, followed by Sahlera R. Medorio-Garcia, Heath A. Medorio-Garcia, Jaden R. Stubbs, Giovanni E. Stubbs, Jadin K. Elliott, Kyleigh J. Stubbs, Alexes L. Stubbs, and her second great-great-grand, Laylani L. Stubbs. Katie is the youngest daughter of Ervin and Nada Eaddy and has two brothers, Neil Eaddy and Emmett Eaddy, both whom served as Navy officers. Katie has 2 sisters, Carolyn Fitzgerald and Sadie Cox. They are all now reunited, once again. Katie was blessed to spend the remainder of her widowed years with Antonio Martinez, who was a faithful, loving, and devoted partner who fit beautifully into our family. Antonio M. says, "Miss U so, my love". Katie was beyond proud of her family, constantly boasting about her 6 generations! She made it known that she wanted to be a HIP mema! To anyone and everyone.. And boy was she.. She was UNEEK, in more ways than one can imagine. Mema can never be duplicated, replaced, or certainly forgotten. All these little pieces of her have shaped each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and now two great-greats... and those pieces of her will live with us forever. We miss you so much, Mema, hug Papa, Robbye, Kristian, and Gustavo so tight for us all.
Mrs. Stubbs is entrusted to Kelvin F. Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home staff of Myrtle Beach, SC. (843) 294-0011.
