With great sadness, we announce that Karen Tindal Vereen passed away unexpectedly on April 20, 2023, at her residence. She was only 60 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by her sudden passing. Karen was born on October 9, 1962.
Karen was born in Conway, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Harvey B. Tindal Jr and the late Victoria R. Tindal. She graduated from Conway High School in 1980, then in 1981 graduated from Conway School of Practical Nursing. In 1997, she proudly completely fulfilled her dream and graduated from Excelsior University as an RN. For over 40 years she worked at Conway Medical Center as the most compassionate nurse, always treating her patients as family, from working in Labor and Delivery and the Nursery, delivering, and caring for hundreds of newborns and new moms to working in the Recovery Room where she continued to give exceptional care and comfort.
Karen is survived by her husband of 42 years, Terry W. Vereen of Conway, and her two daughters Cristi “Nicole” Burkhart (Nicholas) and Victoria A. Vereen, both of Conway, her brother Russell W. Tindal (Donna), of Loris, her two grandsons David R. Grainger (Lydia) and Mattew H. Grainger, both of Conway, her great-grandson Iverson N. Grainger, of Conway, her nieces Britany M. Tindal (Logan) and Kimberly L. Tindal, both of Loris, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Karen always put God first in everything she did. She loved her family dearly. She was so proud of her family. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, colleague, caregiver, and friend. She was a blessing to all that knew her. She touched the lives of so many people, she will truly be missed and will never, ever, be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Mrs. Vereen is entrusted to the care of Kelvin F. Lewis, Funeral Director, and Lewis Crematory & Funeral Services of Myrtle Beach, SC.
