In loving memory of Jay Lally.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John J. Lally, a beloved husband and devoted father. He departed this world unexpectedly on November 3rd, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. He is survived by his wife, Tracy, two sons, Keefer (Julianne) and Trevor, and his sister, Judi (Michael Kehoe). He is preceded in death by the family dog, Maggie.
He is known to most as Jay, referred to as Pops by the family, and J-money by anyone lucky enough to be a part of his legendary memories. His enthusiasm and competitive spirit shined through, whether he was on the green sinking a 50-foot putt, or gathered with friends and family for backyard games. He brought laughter and camaraderie to all who shared these moments with him. His warm, spontaneous demeanor combined with his subtle sense of humor made him a joy to be around in any setting. His work ethic and dedication were evident in his 27 years as the director of financial aid at Florida Tech. As an advocate for student success, he was responsible for the enrollment of thousands of students over his tenure.
As a husband and father, Jay poured his heart and soul into his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and cherished memories that will continue to guide and inspire his two sons and wife. While we mourn the loss of Jay, we also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the love he shared.
A celebration of life service for Jay will be held on Saturday, November 11th, at The All Faiths Center, 3216 Engineering St, on the Florida Tech campus at 11:00 a.m. There will be a reception immediately following in the Hartley Room located on the 2nd floor of the Dennius Student Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity or the family GoFundMe (https://gofund.me/5c7297a0) to help the Lally rally in Jay’s honor and celebrate his life.
Mr. Lally is entrusted to the care of Kelvin F. Lewis, Funeral Director, and Lewis Crematory & Funeral Services of Myrtle Beach, SC.
