Jay Schecter Obituary

Jay Mitchell Schecter passed peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Jay was born June 8, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Jules and Rose Schecter. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son Mitchel, and a daughter Ann. Jay is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Charlotte Schecter, a son David Schecter (Kelly), a daughter, Rachel Sutton (Jeffrey) and five grandchildren, Aaron Schecter (Gillen), Alexander Schecter, Asher Sutton, Allison Sutton, and Matthew Sutton as well as two nephews, Alan Adelman (Jan) and David Adelman (Eileen). 

Jay proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the carrier USS Ticonderoga during the 1950s. From his experience in the Navy, the foundation was set for a long career in both electronics and the formative years of computer technology.

 In addition to enjoying time with his family and extended family, Jay was passionate about “ hitting the road” and enjoyed seeing this country by car, being outdoors taking long bike rides, and listening to his extensive music collection. Jay was also an avid pet lover, especially his cats, Kimba and Pepper.

A memorial service in his honor will be held  Thursday, February 1, 2024, at  10:00 a m  at Lewis Crematory Chapel.
