James “Jim” Hamilton, 79, of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

Jim was born in Charlotte, North Carolin, and raised in Stanley, North Carolina. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller. His last duty station was at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, North Carolina, where he retired. He then diligently served with the United States Postal Service until his second retirement.

Jim will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Maria Hamilton; son Phillip Hamilton, daughter-in-law Frankie Hamilton of Round Rock, Texas; his granddaughter Kelly Hamilton, of Smithville, Texas; his sister Betty Hamilton and brother Dan Hamilton of Surfside Beach, South Carolina; his nieces and their spouses Ginger & Eddie Kiker, and Angie & William Baker, and the many others who affectionately knew him as “Uncle Jim” in the US and the Philippines.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth Hamilton; his beloved wife, Luisa Masbad Hamilton; and his grandson Justin Hamilton. His final resting place will be in the Philippines with his wife in the Masbad family cemetery in Tinang.

Jim was a DIY enthusiast who enjoyed working on cars, computers, and home improvement projects. He was a champion billiards player, bowler, and poker player, as well as an expert marksman who loved shooting guns. He was an avid Star Wars fan who loved science fiction and fantasy movies. His other hobbies included traveling, gaming, and piloting RC planes, boats, and cars. He will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to family, his service to his country, and the warm heart and humor that touched everyone who knew him.
