Herbert Eugene Tennant

Mr. Herbert  Eugene Tennant, age 90, passed away with his family by his side on Monday, October 7, 2024, at his residence in Myrtle Beach.

Herbert (Herb) Eugene Tennant  April 5, 1934 to October 7, 2024.  Herb, 90 of Myrtle Beach SC, passed away peacefully at home with his wife and family around him.  He was born and raised in Blacksville WV and was the late son of JC Tennant and Essie Rose.  Herb served 2 years in the Army and then worked & retired as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight Lines but was a jack of all trades.  He married Elinor Burge and raised his family until her passing in 2000.  .He enjoyed working, traveling, feeding the birds, collecting clocks, playing cards, WWE, visiting and helping family and friends, and always had a project he was working on at home.  

He is survived by his wife of 13 years Joan Hallett Tennant of Myrtle Beach SC, Two Sister-in-Laws Jane and Mary Lee Tennant, 5 Children - Dreama Shove, George (Teresa) Tennant, Kevin (Dawna) Miller, Karen (Lintz) Bliven and Irene (Doug) Hallett.  He was also known as pap to his 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.  He also had many nieces and nephews.   

In addition to his parents and Elinor, Herb is predeceased by his 2 sons Gene and Bill, 1 granddaughter Carla, 6 sisters, and 5 brothers.  

Family and friends are invited to join the family on Saturday, October 19 at 2:00 pm for a graveside service at the Blacksville Cemetery (Blacksville WV), followed by a celebration of life at the Clay Battelle Area Senior Center located at 5977 Mason Dixon Highway, Blacksville WV. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local Hospice Organization.  

Mr. Tennant is entrusted to Kelvin Lewis, the Funeral Director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home Staff of Myrtle Beach, SC.
