Helen Louise Lacy Wagner, age 87, of Ballston Lake, NY, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 3, 2025. Helen and her twin sister Ellen were born in Elizabeth City, NC on March 20, 1938, to the late Calvin Leon Lacy Sr and Margaret Rhymes Lacy (Reames) and was the wife of the late Eldon “Bud” Wagner, Jr.
As a teenager, Helen trusted in the redemptive power of Jesus, asking him for forgiveness of sins and the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit to guide her journey. Her faithfulness led to many years teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and talking to friends and family about the love of Christ. Her legacy was passed on to her children, grandchildren, who are now passing it on to her great-grandchildren. For many years, she was a member of the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church of Troy, NY, and later in life a member of The Church at Newtown Road (Temple Baptist Church) of Halfmoon, NY.
Coming from a large family, in addition to her twin sister, Helen had 9 other brothers and sisters. She is survived by her brother Calvin Leon Lacy Jr., Midred O’Berry, Betty Lacy, and Alice Askew. Helen was preceded in death by her twin sister Ellen Hallock, sisters Marjorie Balance Jester, Evelyn Arsenault, Violet Lacy, and brother James “Jim” Lacy.
Helen and Bud raised two sons. She was preceded in death by her son, John Wagner. She is survived by her son, Jay Wagner (Dena). Helen is survived by her five granddaughters, Jennifer Schanck (Brian), Chrystal Wagner, Heather Fitzsimmons (Michael), Chelsea Willenbrink (Joshua), and Brianna Wagner. Helen is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Wyatt, Harper, Remi, Chris, John, and Isabella as well as a large extended family.
A memorial service will be held at The Church at Newtown Road, Halfmoon, NY, on May 15, 2025, at 6 pm. Helen loved the color blue, so we encourage all attendees to wear some form of blue attire as we celebrate her life and love for Jesus. Helen will subsequently be laid to rest with her husband at Saratoga National Cemetery.
Mrs. Wagner is entrusted to Kelvin F. Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home staff of Myrtle Beach, SC. (843) 294-0011
