Gary Monroe Johnson a.k.a “pops or papa” gained his wings at the age of 62. He lived with one of his three sons Gary Johnson Jr. in Bennettsville,SC. Gary passed away on September 21st, 2020 in Florence at Mcleod Hospice House from natural causes.

Gary was born December 8th, 1957 in St. Louis Illinois by his late parents Harry Sr. and Mary Jane Johnson. His siblings are Larry, Terry, Harry, Barry, and Sherry Johnson. He married his wife Theresa Schneider in St. Louis Illinois on January 5th,1980. He served in the Navy as a gunners mate for 19 years until he retired. His hobbies were fishing, working on cars, and building stuff. He loved to help other no matter what.

He is survived by his children; Anthony Schneider of Bennettsville SC, Tabitha(Roy) Oxendine of Bennettsville SC, Gary Johnson Jr. of Bennettsville SC, Christopher Johnson of Bennettsville SC, Samantha Johnson of Laurinburg NC, Juliana Johnson of Laurinburg NC. His grandchildren; Tylor Driggers of Laurinburg NC, Ashley Driggers of Bennettsville SC, Justin Johnson, Gary Brocklebank, Billie Brocklebank, Madison Ellium, Makayla Ellium, and Velvet Brocklebank. His great-grandchild; Nevaeh Wurst. And lastly his pet chihuahua Rocky.

The family will hold a small gathering in his name in the near future. Rest easy and we will love and remember you forever!

Mr. Johnson is entrusted to the care of Lewis Crematory and Funeral Services, Myrtle Beach, SC.
