“The Man, The Myth, The Legend”
It is with great sadness that the family of Frederick England announces his passing. He passed in the wee hours of the morning, surrounded by family at his home in Myrtle Beach, SC. Born in Suffern, NY, he spent most of his life living in Fairfield County, Connecticut. He leaves behind his wife of 29 years, Suzanne Pernod England, and his children Amanda Dervan, Patrick England, and Matthew England. He also leaves his son-in-law, Darren Derva, and his two granddaughters, who were the light of his life, and Dylan and Samantha Dervan, who referred to him adoringly as Bubba.
He was most notably a ship captain, Masters of the Seas, running oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, Capt. Fred, as most knew him, was not only a captain but a pilot as well, and had a passion for telling stories about flying helicopters during the Vietnam War.
A true Renaissance man, from ship captain to grill master and chef to running multiple businesses, including Captains on Call, a marine surveying service, and most recently, a career in armed security, in which he took down some of Myrtle Beach’s toughest.
Fred had a fine sense of humor and was a firm believer in “it's not what you say but how you say it.” He left this world knowing that his family was happy and that they would do everything they could to try to hit the high bar he set.
May he rest in peace and watch over them.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to take a moment to be by the ocean and say goodbye.
