Ema Amanda Schraiber affectionally known as Nené, passed away peacefully in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on February 23, 2024. She was 91 years old.
Ema was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on May 11, 1932, to Armando Coletta and Ema Vassallo, both of Italian descent. She was the oldest of three sisters. She studied business in the English language and worked as an assistant bookkeeper.
In 1955, she married Felix Schraiber and had two children. Following her husband’s dreams, she emigrated to the US in 1974, where she made her home for 50 years.
She spent the last four and a half decades of her life in Bergen County, NJ where she was the co-owner of various businesses in nearby Kearny and was a teller for 9 years at Kearny Bank and Boiling Springs Bank. She also held jobs at Polo Ralph Lauren and Mandee clothing stores.
After her divorce, she married Antonio Tolsa who was also from Argentina, and quickly became a part of the family.
Ema was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, and friend. She loved traveling, baking, cooking, sewing, knitting, and crafting. Her strong Catholic faith and upbringing permeated her life. She will be remembered for her kind and giving demeanor and her uniquely funny sense of humor.
Predeceased by her parents, her sister Silvia, and both her spouses, Ema’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her sister Juana Angelica, son Sergio and wife Tamara, her daughter Monica and husband Angel, as well as her granddaughters Melissa and Karina.
Ema’s final resting place will be Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 1 at 1 PM.
Mrs. Schraiber is entrusted to the care of Kelvin F. Lewis, Funeral Director, and Lewis Crematory & Funeral Services of Myrtle Beach, SC.
