Dorothy Watson

Dorothy Watson, 79, of Christiansburg, Virginia, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 26, 2026.

There are some people who make the world feel a little gentler just by being in it. Dorothy was one of those people. She was the sweetest, kindest soul, with the warmest smile and the cutest little laugh. She found joy in the simple things: her morning coffee with just a splash of water, cooking for her family, playing games around the table, and spending time with the people she loved most. She didn't need much to be happy. When her family was gathered, she was exactly where she wanted to be.

Dorothy had a gift for making everyone feel at home. Whether it was reminding you, “Make sure you wear your jacket,” or greeting you with that sweet smile as she peeked through the curtain before opening the door, she made the smallest moments feel special. She was thoughtful in ways that often went unnoticed, always putting others before herself and making sure the people around her knew they were loved.

Her kindness was quiet, genuine, and constant. It was simply who she was.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tate and Ruby Dickerson; her brother, Nick Dickerson; her sister, Pansy Dickerson; and many other cherished family members.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Tony Watson; her daughter, Tammy Greeley and husband, Tom; her grandchildren, Chaz Chinault (Ashton), Kody Chinault, and Kevin Chinault (Emily); her great-grandchildren, Collin, Charlotte, and Cylas Chinault; her sister, Carol (Bob) Howe; her brothers, Tate (Debi) Dickerson, Donald (Connie) Dickerson, Larry (Becky) Dickerson, and Gary Dickerson; her brother-in-law, Brad Watson; her sister-in-law, Betty Halsey; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A family graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Clinch Valley Cemetery, 3201 West Front Street, Richlands, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
