Donna Marie Murphy
Loris, South Carolina
July 4, 1958 – December 15, 2025
Donna Marie Murphy, born on July 4, 1958, in Boston, Massachusetts, passed away on December 15, 2025, in Loris, South Carolina. Her passing marks the end of a life defined by quiet strength, unwavering dedication to others, and a heart full of compassion.
Donna pursued her education with determination and purpose. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University and went on to receive a master’s degree in clinical social work from Cambridge College. Her academic achievements reflected her deep commitment to helping others—a calling she fulfilled throughout her life.
A devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Donna is lovingly remembered by her brother Sean Murphy of Loris, SC; her brother Steven Murphy of Halifax, MA; her nieces Melissa Murphy of Quincy, MA; Nancy Buonamano of Halifax, MA; and Jessica Murphy of Weymouth, MA; as well as her great-nephew Killian Murphy of Weymouth, MA. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Wendy Walker of Loris, SC; Lillian Murphy of Duxbury, MA; and Ellen Murphy of Halifax, MA. Her beloved canine companions Glory and Lilly, who shared her home, were also part of the family she held dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Murphy, and mother, Eileen Murphy of Boston, MA; her brother, Thomas Murphy, of Quincy, MA; and her sister, Debra Murphy of Loris, SC. Donna also mourned the loss of many furry children over the years—rescued animals who found love and safety in her care.
From an early age, Donna found joy in simple pleasures. She was an avid chef and baker whose kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of homemade meals and treats. A voracious reader throughout her life, she found solace and adventure within the pages of books. But perhaps nothing brought Donna more fulfillment than caring for animals, especially dogs who had endured hardship before finding refuge with her. Each one was welcomed into a home filled with warmth and unconditional love.
Donna lived a life marked by selflessness. She met challenges without complaint and met each day with resilience and grace. Her signature greeting – “Hi, how are ya!” and her infectious laugh – were delivered with genuine warmth that lifted spirits wherever she went. Always ready to lend a hand or offer a listening ear, she was a steadfast presence for those lucky enough to know her – a friend to many and a confidant to some.
Her legacy is one of love and sacrifice. In every act of kindness she extended – whether through professional service or personal generosity – Donna left an indelible mark on the lives around her. The world is indeed a little less sunny without her radiant spirit lighting the way.
May Donna’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
Ms. Murphy is entrusted to Kelvin F. Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home staff of Myrtle Beach, SC. (843) 294-0011.
