Dennis R. Hughes

Dennis Hughes, a lifelong carpenter and proud owner of Dennis Hughes Home Repairs, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and dedication to his family and community. Known throughout the Mt. Vernon community for his craftsmanship and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, Dennis built more than homes during his life — he built lasting friendships and touched countless lives.

Dennis was a loving father, a loyal friend, and a man whose heart was as strong as his work ethic. Whether he was helping a neighbor with repairs, sharing stories with friends, or offering support to those going through difficult times, Dennis was always someone people could count on.

Outside of work, Dennis found peace and freedom riding his Harley and spending time in the mountains, places he truly loved. Those closest to him will remember his adventurous spirit, generous nature, and the unforgettable presence he brought into every room.

Dennis will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory and the impact he made on the Mt. Vernon community will live on forever to come. His mother and father were Daniel Hughes and  Louise Hughes. He is survived by 2 brothers, Dale Hughes and Gene Hughes, 2 sons, Johnathan Hughes and Ray Hughes, and 2 grandchildren, Harper and Keegan.  

A graveside service and interment will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Hughes Family Cemetery, located on Highway 348, Loris, SC 29569

All family and friends are welcome to attend.
