David Sterba Obituary

David Allen Sterba, 71, of Conway, SC, passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2024. David was born in Prince George's County, MD to Stanley and Lucille (Chiodo) Sterba.

David attended Holy Trinity Church Elementary School, graduating from Montour High School in the Class of 1970. 

David proudly served in the US Army as an Optical Lab Assistant and Optician. He was honorably discharged in 1975, continuing both teaching and working in this field.

David joined the US Postal Service in 1986 as a letter carrier, serving the Mt Lebanon office until he retired in 2014.

David, known for his love of all Pittsburgh sports teams, also enjoyed playing softball, golf, bowling, and Texas Holdem poker. Additionally, he delighted in spending time at many East Coast beaches, and casinos, attending concerts and theatre performances.

He is survived at home by his life partner & best friend Lynda Moore along with his faithful 4-legged companion, Maxie. David is also remembered lovingly by his partner's son, Zach (Yesenia) Moore.

 David is survived by a sister LuAnn (Michael) Wylam of East Fallowfield, PA, and two brothers, Michael (Deborah) Sterba of Lawrence, PA, and Tim Sterba of Houston, TX. David is the beloved Uncle of Ian & Treva of Houston, who loved visiting him in Carnegie and enjoyed his stories growing up.

David is also survived by "niece" Suze (Erik) Luhrs and family who memorialized him some people are more than family, they’re a figure and that’s what you were to me. Larger than life. Someone who left their mark. The world was better with you in it.

David will be dearly missed by his loved ones and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace.

Military honors will be held at a later date at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Sterba is entrusted to the care of Kelvin F. Lewis, Funeral Director, and Lewis Crematory & Funeral Services of Myrtle Beach, SC.
