David Payne Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we have to share the passing of my beloved husband and my children's father, David Poole Payne, AKA "Hippie."  David was born on May 14, 1964, and left us on December 5, 2024, at 60.  David resided in Myrtle Beach, S.C. with his wife of 41 years, Marie Payne.

He was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with us and his other loved ones and friends.  His passion for riding his motorcycle with his ministry and friends, fishing, gardening, reading, cooking/grilling, and doing what he could to help others around him, and his unwavering spirit will forever be remembered.

We will gather on December 9th, 2024, at Lewis Crematory and Funeral Services to honor this great man with family and friends to celebrate his life and love his life represented.  Doors will be open to all family and friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Please come and help us celebrate him and his life while sending him off to gain his forever angel wings to fly high forever with no more pain and suffering.

David is survived by his wife, Marie Payne, 1 son Billy Carroll, and girlfriend Mona Quesinberry, both of Galax, Va., 2 daughters Michelle (Jimmy) Blackburn of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Kimberly (Justin) Reeves of Supply, N.C., His mother, Mary Louise Green; 3 grandchildren he loved dearly, Adreana Hinkley, Abigayle Blackburn, and Tobias Reeves, and 3 great-grandchildren, Aubree, Lyndsi, and Braedon Hinkley. Also surviving are 5 brothers and sisters, David Lineberry (aka Life Long Best Friend) of Galax, Va., Wayne and Barbara Green, Gary Green,  Allen Green, and Vanessa and Rick Bryant, all of Virginia.

David was predeceased by his dad, Wallace Green, Grandparents Hurley Sr and Dora Poole, Uncle Curtis Poole, Mother and father-in-law, Gail and Scott Stamper, and special best friend Mark Roberts.

God saw you getting TIRED  When a cure was not to be  He wrapped his arms around you and whispered "COME TO ME"  You didn't deserve what you went through  So he gave you needed rest.  God's garden must be beautiful because He ONLY takes THE BEST!  WHO WE LOVE DON'T GO AWAY, they walk beside us every day.

I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, WIll live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will NEVER die.  John11:25-26

Rest easy sweet daddy. We love you "the bestest"!!

In place of flowers, donations may be made to the family via a "Go Fund Me" on Facebook organized by Kimberly Reeves through VENMO to his wife Glenna Marie Payne, or through cards at the service.  All donations will be greatly appreciated to help his wife through this difficult time.  There will also be a celebration of life ceremony in Virginia on Saturday, December 14, 2024, with details to be added to a Facebook obituary.

Mr. Payne is entrusted to Kelvin F. Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home Staff of Myrtle Beach, SC.
