David Featherstone Obituary

We bid farewell to our father, David L. Featherstone, who departed this world on September 6, 2024, at the age of 74. He was a pillar of strength and a beacon of love, and his absence leaves a hole in our hearts.

David was born on October 25 1949 to Catherine Elizabeth Moore Featherstone and William Edward Featherstone in Kokomo Indiana. David attended and graduated from Western High School in Kokomo. When he wasn't in school he helped work on his grandfather's farm or at the Country Club golf course.

David married his high school sweetheart, Judy Ann Hayes, in Greentown, Indiana, on February 22, 1968. That same year, he also began working at Continental Steel and continued until it closed in 1986. David and Judy went on to have three wonderful sons: Rusty, Mike, and John.

When Continental Steel closed in 1986 David began working at PPG Industries and attending Ivy Tech. He graduated from Ivy Tech in 1988 and worked for PPG until 1995. After leaving PPG David used his degree in construction and started his own business building houses. He did that until 2006. In 2006 David retired and he and Judy moved to Conway South Carolina to spend their retirement years near the beach and enjoy the warm sand and sun.

David was passionate about hunting arrowheads and had a vast collection he had found over his lifetime. He also enjoyed oil painting, walking on the beach with a metal detector looking for hidden treasures and shark teeth, ocean fishing, and playing golf.

David was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years Judy Featherstone. He is survived by his sons Rusty of Peru Indiana, Mike (Leanne) of Peru Indiana, and John (Laura) of Conway, South Carolina. In addition, David is survived by two brothers Bill and Rick, and one sister Cathy all of Indiana. David has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved very much.

No matter how old we are, we still need our dad, or best friend and wonder how we will ever get by without you. Your loving son's Rusty, Mike and John

Mr. Featherstone is entrusted to Kelvin Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home staff of Myrtle Beach, SC. (843) 294-0011
