Mr. David Russell Berndt, age 81, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Emily (Grimes) Berndt. They were married for 58 years.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, he was the son of Ernest Sr. and Miriam Berndt. Dave resided in Pawtucket before moving to Myrtle Beach, SC, in 2009. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was employed as a union carpenter, a millwright for Texas Instruments, and owned his own business as a master electrician, D. Berndt Electric, until retirement.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael Berndt (wife Kathy) of Coventry, Rhode Island, and a daughter, Brenda (Berndt) Baker (husband Jon) of Pawtucket; two grandsons, Russell Dairon (wife Samantha) of Portland, Oregon, and Benjamin Doiron (MK) of North Kingstown, Rhode Island.; three brothers, Donald Berndt of Attleboro, Massachusett, Richard Berndt of West Greenwich, Rhode Island, and Ernest Berndt, Jr. of Edgewater, Florida.
Dave loved fishing and taking trips with the "Seven B's" boat to Florida as a co-captain. Everyone who knew him had a Dave story. He helped everyone, no matter the situation. He will be greatly missed by his family, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in his honor.
