Claudia Ketchum Obituary

Claudia’s life was a living example of her favorite bible verse, Trust in the Lord and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart desires – Psalm 37:3-4.

It is with great sadness that the family of Claudia Jane Ketchum, beloved wife, sister, mother, stepmother, cousin, and friend, announce her passing on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 65.

Claudia will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Rick, her sister Lisa (Harry) Suszko, brother Chris Jahncke, daughter Amanda (Zach) Spargo, and stepson Drew (Jessy) Ketchum. She was proud to be a grandma to her step-grandchildren Eli, Niam, Ruthie Ketchum; Austin, and Dominic Spargo. Also remembering her are dear cousins Garry (Denise) and Craig (Roseann Walker) Teague; step-siblings Robert Cummings, John (Jill) Cummings, Peggy (Gerry) Kramer, and Mary Beth (Steve) Bender.

Claudia thrived at being organized and creative – decorating their homes and landscapes beautifully and designing homemade cards and heartfelt fun gifts for her family. Her creativity, decorating, and organization talents were shared cheerfully with others as well (especially with her sister Lisa).

Claudia’s greatest gifts were her faith and her love of family. She and the love of her life Rick enjoyed each other’s company whether it be on an adventurous vacation, dining at restaurants (or enjoying Rick’s cooking), exploring/participating in new activities, floating around the lazy river or just enjoying a relaxing evening at home. She also adored her family and cherished every moment with them, providing them with a strong foundation of love and support. Claudia was always behind the camera taking pictures to document the moments that were special to her, capturing smiles and laughter forever in her heart.  Her motto was, “You have to take a lot of pictures just to get one good one.”

Thank you all for your care, kindness, and prayers. Claudia exemplified a life full of the fruits of the spirit; Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control. To know her was to love her and be loved by her.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27. Dance freely with the Angels' darling Claudia.

Mrs. Ketchum is entrusted to Kelvin Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home Staff of Myrtle Beach, SC.
