Charles Davis Obituary

Charles Edward Davis, 70, passed away on January 29, 2025, at Conway Medical Center, Conway, South Carolina.

Chuck or Whitey as he was known to friends for his blonde hair, was born on October 27, 1954, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Edward Earl Davis and Helen Ball Davis.  The family moved to James Island, South Carolina in 1960.  Chuck attended elementary and high school on James Island where he also began a lifelong love of enjoying the South Carolina waterways.  He served in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1981 to 1987.

A very skilled welder, Chuck worked on numerous nuclear power plants and other large-scale construction jobs in the Southeast from Mobile, Alabama, to Charleston, South Carolina.  In retirement, he upholstered and reconfigured boat interiors.  An exacting professional – some might say a “perfectionist” – Chuck was proud of his finished work products and was eager to teach others about what he knew.

Whitey is survived by Joy Boyer -- April 1st would have marked 31-years together.  He is also survived by his two beloved dogs, Tucker and Charlee, as well as his sister, Judy Davis, of Pinehurst, North Carolina.  His parents predeceased him.

In place of flowers, please consider donating to the Grand Strand Humane Society in Myrtle Beach, SC.

A celebration of his life to scatter his ashes will be held in the spring.

Mr. Davis is entrusted to Kelvin Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory and Funeral Home Staff of Myrtle Beach, SC.
