September 14, 2024, Eric lost his battle against several serious medical conditions, at Grand Stand Medical Center. In his hand, he was holding a ticket to see his adoring sister, Angel Chavez, along with his beloved niece Hope and cherished nephews Devin and Hunter. That trip would not be made, as God had other plans for Eric. We know that in those final moments, he was joyful with the thought of seeing them in the next few hours. Heaven, his first-born niece whom he adored and was so proud of, visited him just hours before and he was thrilled to hug her one more time. Eric was always so proud of his sister Angel and her children. He adored being a great uncle to Lilly and Athena, Heaven’s children, as well. He bragged about all these children and loved them like a proud parent.
His uncle and aunt, Buddy and Deborah Floyd, stood in as parents for him throughout his life, especially after the passing of his mother Anne Cannon.
Eric had a love for life like few others. He loved people and never met a stranger. He was giving and kind with a fierce love of animals, including his only two loyal companions Bella & Mouse whom he loved more than himself. His huge heart along with his jokester personality made everyone fall in love with him instantly. His laughter was contagious and will surely be missed. His life and love will carry on through our memories. He was a crazy, one-of-a-kind free spirit who lived hard but also loved hard. Those are FAQKS!
A private service will be held at Eric’s favorite place- the beach, where his ashes will be released among the shark teeth he expertly collected.
Mr. Chavez is entrusted to Kelvin Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory and Funeral Home Staff of Myrtle Beach, SC.
