Beatrice Maxwell Obituary

Beatrice Grogan Maxwell passed away on January 21, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents Richard and Beatrice Grogan, and her wonderful siblings and their spouses Mary (Hugh) Byrnes; Jack (Dottie) Grogan; and Richard (Gert) Grogan. We are certain they welcomed her into heaven with a fabulous parade.

Bea is survived by her very loving and devoted husband, John Maxwell. The couple was engaged 60 years ago this past New Year's Eve and were lucky enough to enjoy 58 1/2 years of a beautiful marriage. Together they raised four children Shannon (Scott) Corbin of Loveland, OH; Ian (Nichole) Maxwell of Oak Island, NC; Libby (Garett) Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Abby (Bob) Hammond of Tuscaloosa, AL. Bea was blessed with eight loving grandchildren Nathan and Baylie Corbin; Caroline and Nicholas Maxwell; Colin (Briana) and Bryson (Kayla) Williams; and Annalise and Elliot Hammond. Colin and Briana are expecting twin great-grandsons in May of 2025.

Bea lived an amazing life where she spent her early years as a teacher, then focused on raising their children. In 1983 Bea and John relocated from Cincinnati to Myrtle Beach to spend more time together operating a small motel. After retiring from the motel business, Bea and John have spent the last 21 years traveling, a love of adventure that they have shared with their children. From campers to fifth wheels to RVs, they have traveled all over the US and captured more than a lifetime of memories.

Bea passed peacefully in her condo with John by her side, overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway watching boats go by. May we all be so blessed in our lives. A celebration of Bea’s life will be planned at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Gentiva Hospice, 5046 Highway 17 Bypass South #206, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29588.
